    Safety Experiment!

    We just conducted a safety experiment, condensing compressed natural gas into liquefied natural gas to be ignited! As well as being easily produced, this represented more of the favourable properties of methane!

    Material Testing

    We are testing the thermal properties of a composite-foam sandwich sample by exposing the materials to liquid nitrogen at approximately -200 degrees centigrade.

    Wind Tunnel Testing

    Using a 1/10th scale model, we are able to test our pod's active boundary layer control with smoke visualisation in RMIT's on-campus wind tunnel. Martin and James are very excited to get "hands on"!

    Today the team performed another experiment. We tested the thermal properties of phenolic foam by measuring the boil off rate of liquid nitrogen! Thermal imaging helps us to see the temperature differential!

    CLiMA have performed another laboratory test with Liquid Nitrogen! A small amount of the cryogenic fuel was stored in a simple plastic container using cryogel insulation for a number of hours!!
