Team Wings of Phoenix wins Airbus Fly Your Ideas 2011

The first prize of €30,000 in Airbus’ Fly Your Ideas 2011 competition was awarded to Team Wings of Phoenix from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (China) at a ceremony held at the International Paris Air Show – Le Bourget today. The team members, along with all the finalists, will also be offered an internship at Airbus. The Airbus Fly Your Ideas (FYI) biennial contest challenges students worldwide to develop new ideas to deliver a more eco-efficient aviation industry for the future.

Student teams from across 5 continents have chance to win €30,000
Airbus today unveiled the five student finalist teams for the second Airbus
Fly Your Ideas competition (FYI). The shortlisted teams are from Chile, China, India, Malaysia and Sweden. The winner of the
Fly Your Ideas challenge 2011 will be announced by Airbus at a special ceremony to be held at the International Paris Airshow-Le Bourget on June 23rd 2011.

The majority of votes (38%) in the latest airbus-fyi.com poll underestimated how much aircraft fuel burn / emissions and noise had decreased over the last 40 years, incorrectly stating declines of 50% and 75% respectively.
